Osinbajo Commissions NDPHC Substation in Awka

Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, GCON yesterday 24th August 2021, commissioned the Niger Delta Power Holding Company Limited (NDPHC) 2x60MVA, 132/33KV substation at Agu Awka in Anambra state.

 The vice president in his address commended the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano and the management of NDPHC for their commitment towards ensuring that the project was completed.

 Osinbajo stated that the Awka substation is targeted towards boosting industry growth and economy of the state.

"This project will improve employment and social upliftment to Ndi-Anambra. This is not just for commerce because it is also connected to the ultra modern Airport at Umueri.

 "This project is a substantial addition which will make business more effective in Anambra. It is my pleasure to join Ndi-Anambra in this celebration. I assure you of the partnership of the federal government. We will do all we can to make sure that our people have a perfect environment for doing business".

 The Executive Governor of Anambra State Chief Willie Obiano in his speech assured Ndi-Anambra that electricity will improve in the state and that money spent on diesel will be a thing of the past.

 "This commissioning is very timely. This project will compliment the efforts of the state government who are in partnership with Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) in building six transmission substations across the state. We are the light of the nation and what we are doing here today will really make us the light of the nation".

 Managing Director/CEO NDPHC, Chinedu Ugbo in his address said the new  Awka 132/33KV substation is equiped with two 60MVA transmission.

"This project is one of several transmission project conceived under the National Integrated Power Project (NIPP) being implemented by NDPHC and was conceived in 2006 to provide a longer-term solution to the growing electricity demand of Awka, the Anambra state capital and it's environs".

 Ugbo expressed gratitude to the government of president Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Willie Obiano for the role they played in completion of the project.


The vice president with other dignitaries toured the substation.
