Former president of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Bukola Saraki has expressed his opinion on the decision of the Buhari led federal government to suspend the operations of Twitter in Nigeria.

Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, announced the suspension in a statement signed by his Special Assistant Segun Adeyemi citing the “persistent use of the platform for activities that are capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence

The Minister said the Federal Government has also directed the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to immediately commence the process of licensing all OTT and social media operations in Nigeria.

In his opinion, Saraki, who presided over the 8th Senate said the decision “must be reviewed” as twitter is part of the lives of most of the youths in Nigeria.

His exact words: “No sir! This should not be the response from the president of a nation with a vibrant youthful population for whom #Twitter is part of their daily lives and a source of their income and livelihood.  ” This must be reviewed,” he tweeted.
