At Independence Day Event Anambra Newspapers honours ex-Daily Times MD, three others


Awka, the capital of Anambra State, was agog on Tuesday as the management of the state-owned Anambra Newspapers and Printing Corporation honoured a former Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief of Daily Times, Stanley Egbochukwu, and three others at its Nigeria Independence Day Revue.


The event was held at the event hall of ANPC, publishers of National Light and Ka O Di Ta newspapers.

Among dignitaries at the colourful event was the Head of Service, Anambra State, Barrister Harry Uduh; popular Nollywood actor and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Creative Industry, Bob-Manuel Udokwu; Managing Director, Drainage Clearing and Forestry Agency, Chido Obidiegwu; and SSA, Digital Entrepreneurship, Ifeanyi Aniagoh.

Also honoured at the event were the Managing Director, Anambra State Signage and Advertisement Agency, Sir. Jude Emecheta; renowned artist, Sir Tony Otikpa; and Special Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture and veteran journalist, Noble Sir Paul Obi.

Explaining the rationale for the award to the audience, ANPC MD/CEO, Sir Chuka Nnabuife, said the four prominent Anambra indigenes were honoured for their roles as elder statesmen and for their immense contributions to the nation in their respective fields.

The audience was thrilled to songs and drama sketches by the National Light Art Troupe and students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka as well as a musical performance of chart-buster ‘Nothing For You’ track of masked artiste, Lagbaja.
